PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Rubber Flap Check Valve is designed for automatic prevention of reverse flow in water and wastewater pipeline systems. Forward-moving fluid pushes the resilient flap away from the seating surface, allowing the medium to pass through the valve. When forward flow decreases or stops, the flap automatically returns to its closed position to restrict reverse flow.
The inclined seating arrangement is designed to shorten the disc travel required for closure. This allows the flap to respond quickly to changing flow conditions and can help reduce hydraulic shock associated with sudden flow reversal.
Its relatively simple internal construction, resilient sealing system and robust ductile iron body make the valve particularly suitable for municipal water, sewage, pumping and general utility applications.
KEY FEATURES & ADVANTAGES
- Quick Closing Action
The inclined seat geometry reduces the distance required for the flap to reach its closed position, providing a faster response when flow stops or reverses.
- Reduced Water-Hammer Potential
Faster flap closure can help limit reverse-flow velocity and reduce pressure surges within the pipeline.
- Resilient Rubber Sealing
NBR or EPDM sealing surfaces provide flexible contact with the seat and dependable shut-off performance.
- Reinforced Flap Construction
The valve flap incorporates a metallic reinforcing structure combined with resilient rubber to provide both mechanical strength and sealing flexibility.
- Resistance to Flow-Induced Wear
The rubber-covered flap helps protect the internal sealing component against erosion and repeated impact during normal operating cycles.
- Automatic Backflow Protection
Operation is entirely flow-actuated, eliminating the need for external power, actuators or manual intervention.
- Simple Internal Design
A reduced number of moving components contributes to straightforward operation and minimizes routine maintenance requirements.
- Convenient Maintenance
The accessible construction simplifies inspection, servicing and replacement of internal components when required.
- Robust Ductile Iron Body
QT450 ductile iron provides good mechanical strength and impact resistance for water and wastewater pipeline installations.
- Suitable for Utility Services
Particularly suited to pumping stations, municipal water networks, wastewater treatment facilities, sewage systems and other general fluid-handling applications.
