PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Flanged Knife Gate Valve is designed primarily for reliable isolation of pipelines carrying liquids, wastewater and media containing suspended solids. The gate travels vertically across the flow passage, providing a direct opening and closing action with minimal obstruction when fully opened.
Its streamlined internal passage helps maintain a large effective flow area while reducing unnecessary pressure loss. The valve is intended mainly for fully open or fully closed service rather than continuous throttling or flow regulation.
The robust body, corrosion-resistant coating, resilient sealing arrangement and compact non-rising stem construction make the valve suitable for industrial and utility installations where dependable shut-off and straightforward maintenance are required.
KEY FEATURES & ADVANTAGES
- Robust Body Construction
Cast iron or ductile iron construction provides mechanical strength and durability for demanding pipeline installations.
- Low Flow Resistance
The internal flow path is designed to provide a relatively unobstructed passage, helping minimize turbulence and pressure loss when the valve is open.
- Bidirectional Sealing Capability
The sealing arrangement can provide shut-off from either flow direction, simplifying pipeline orientation and installation where the applicable valve configuration supports bidirectional service.
- Corrosion Protection
Epoxy coating on internal and external body surfaces helps protect the valve against corrosion, moisture and harsh operating environments.
- Resilient Sealing System
EPDM-covered sealing components provide flexible contact with the valve seating surfaces and help maintain consistent shut-off performance.
- Reduced Sediment Accumulation
The lower body area is designed to minimize cavities where sludge, debris or suspended solids could collect, helping maintain dependable valve operation.
- Multiple Stem Sealing
A multi-O-ring stem sealing arrangement helps reduce external leakage while maintaining smooth stem movement.
- Smooth Operating Mechanism
Brass or suitable corrosion-resistant operating components help reduce friction and minimize the possibility of seizure during operation.
- Compact Non-Rising Stem Design
The non-rising stem configuration reduces the vertical clearance required during valve operation, particularly useful for larger valve sizes.
- Maintenance-Friendly Construction
Replaceable sealing and operating components simplify routine inspection and servicing and can help extend overall valve service life.
- Underground Installation Options
Extension stems, operating caps or extended operating arrangements can be provided for buried pipelines, chambers and deep-well installations.
- Suitable for Solids-Bearing Media
The gate-style construction makes the valve suitable for applications involving wastewater, sludge and other fluids containing suspended particles.
